#This link for Competitive Exam preparation.

    • Go though it & make & have a habbit to solve atleast 10 question every day.
This will help you a lot in your GATE or any competative preparation.
Try to solve in a group with discussion on every topic. Such practice will definitely help you to strengthen your fundamental.

What Diffrence between deep foundation, shalow foundation and raft foundation?when which foundation can we use?

    • Shallow foundation are the foundation which transfers the load directly to the ground by bearing action only on the superficial layer of the earth.
Accoring to Terzaghi foundation is shallow if depth of foundation is equal to or less than its greater dimension.
Such foundation acts as hinge support @ base.
eg. spread footing foundations, mat-slab foundations, slab-on-grade foundations, pad foundations, rubble trench foundations, and earthbag foundations.

Deep foundation are the foundation deep inside the ground & transfers the load by bearing, skin friction or both.
Accoring to Terzaghi foundation is deep if depth of foundation is greater than its greater dimension.
Such foundation acts as fixed or partically fixed support @ base
eg. well foundation, pile foundation etc.

Raft foundation is as type of shallow foundation.
Raft foundation is nothing but inverted slab.
It is economical to suggest raft foundation when the footing are of isolated footing exceeds 50% of the slab area.

    Tacoma Bridge Collapse…

    • Really a nice video. Worth seeing. Convey to all your colleague.
Collapse is due to lack of stiffening of deck of the bridge.
Since the deck is not stiff enough, it starts oscillating due to wind force perpendicular to road center line.
Decks acts as a wing of the aeroplane. Wind lifts & press the deck results into oscillation of deck.

  5. really wonderful video…………………..amazing

    • Nice video.
Can you identify the structure near the pylon just above the water surface.
Lets have a small activity over this.
      1. Here in the video we have seen that the deck of cable stayed bridge is counterballanced over the pylon (i.e. pylon is connected to cable on both of its side).
Is it possible to develop cantilever cable-stayed bridge. (i.e. pylon is connected to cable on one of its side).
      2. Find out the advantage of cable stayed bridge over normal rcc and prestressed bridge.
      3. Why only one span of Bandra-Warli sea link is cable stayed bridge while rest of the bridge is made by prestressed concrete girder supported on rcc pier.
      4. What is the critical loading condition (consider only gravity load) on cable stayed bridge.
      5. Why are the cable of cable stayed bridge made of bunch of wires of small diameter and not of solid single cable.

  6. How can 500 apple transfer from farm to market yard by one camel if he eats one apple per 1 km and total distance is 1000km.

    • Not able to understand what you want to say!
      Question is like this……
A farmer is suppose to transfer 3000 apple to marketing yard located at @ 1000 km from farm.
Only available vehicle is a camel. Camel consumes 1 apple per km.
Maximum load a camel can carry is 1000 apple at a time.
Determine the maximum number of apple which could be transported to marketing yard.

It’s a question of “ROUTE RATIONALIZATION”

    Lateral Force Mechanish

Ans:Lets have a simple steps as under:
    1) First whole structure to move from vertical to horizontal.
2)Now whole structure considered as a cantiliver beam. (because hear we have fixed colomn with wooden sheet with metallic connection)
3)Now, we provide vertical compressive force on the top floor through ‘proving ring’.Now we measure magnitude of force and deflection of force.

Which beam is take more and more load circular, rectangale, and square . .and why ?

what is Differentiate between curved beam and arches ?

    • When load is applied paralled & in plane of curvature then such structure is to be analised as an arches.
When load is applied perpendicular to the plane of curvature then such structure is to be analised as an beam curved in plan.
